The NMIMS Deemed to be University began by offering programs in Management, enjoying international recognition as one of the leading institutions of Management training. Sunandan Divatia School of Science was established in the year 2007 with a view to providing undergraduate and postgraduate students an opportunity to pursue academic pathways in basic sciences. Students were provided a platform to be a part of the unique learning methodology of the university, which lays emphasis on academic excellence combined with industry-oriented training. The School’s primary purpose was to develop technically skilled manpower for the industry.

Over the years, different departments within the school of science recorded robust growth in terms of student enrolment & graduation, staff attraction & retention, research publication & patent registration, and student placements in academia and industry. In the last couple of years, the SDSOS launched new undergraduate B.Sc. programs in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Applied Psychology, Animation, and VFX among others.

The University leadership decided to carve a new school by merging the program of the School of Mathematical Sciences and the five programs of the Department of Statistics of the Sunandan Divatia School of Science. The new NMIMS school emerging out of this restructuring initiative is named the Nilkamal School of Mathematics, Applied Statistics, and Analytics (NSOMASA).

The goal of NSOMASA is to be a Centre of Excellence in the domain of Applied Computational Mathematics, Applied Statistics, and Analytics providing quality education and research.

All our programs are reviewed and updated every three years to make them more relevant. Presently, many of our past students who have successfully completed different programs in our school are placed in various industries and some have taken research as their career. Each program is uniquely designed with well-defined program outcomes, exit-level outcomes, and competitive job opportunities. All our specially curated undergraduate and postgraduate programs generate a pool of highly qualified scientific talent, who can fulfill the needs of Research Institutions as well as the industry demands.

All programs offered at the NSOMASA aim to inculcate a culture of research among the students. This unique feature is overseen by ensuring the completion of one research project of 2 credits in two or more semesters of the program.
