About the Conference

The Department of Statistics, School of Mathematics, Applied Statistics and Analytics(SOMASA) is proud to hold the first International Conference on Statistics 2023 (ICS 2023) at SVKM’s NMIMS (Deemed-to-be University), Mumbai, from March 20^th to 22^nd, 2023. This conference aims to promote the national and international exchange of ideas among statisticians and practitioners in academia, government, and private sectors. Besides the dissemination of knowledge, the conference will provide an opportunity for professional networking, especially for those in the early stages of their careers, graduate students, and postdoctoral researchers in the field of statistics. The conference's central theme is "New Age Statistics for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence”. Computation is a fundamental tool that underlines much of modern statistical practice. With the rise of Data Science, there is now a focus on providing researchers with the modern tools necessary to work with today’s data sets, which are often very large and messy.

Moreover, data sources and the nature of data itself these days are rather complex, sometimes confidential, and the analysis of such data sets requires new and innovative methods. Though statisticians have always worked with data, Data Science requires a different set of skills and techniques to gain insights from data. This conference will provide researchers with a platform to understand some of the recent statistical advancements and practices that are critical to the foundations of Data Science and the way we analyze data.  The main objective of this international conference is to bring together expert statisticians from all over the globe who will present state-of-the-art new-generation statistics triggered by applications of domain-specific data analytics tools. The conference presentations lasting for three days are expected to foster sharing of research findings and increased research interactions among the participants.
