The School of Business Management (SBM) covers the flagship management programme that has been successfully grooming managerial talent since 1981. SBM offers MBA programmes specific to various sectors like Actuarial Science, Banking, Capital Markets, Global Business, Pharma, Retail, and Services. The School has designed the Management Programme for Executives (MPE), a week-end Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management customized for working professionals.  Geared towards updating the General Management skills of executives and managers for career advancement opportunities, this programme has met with a lot of success and industry recognition.

MANAGEMENT PROGRAMME FOR EXECUTIVES
POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN BUSINESS MANAGEMENT (PGDBM)

Brief Description:

 This is a Week-end Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management Programme meant for Working Executives with minimum three years of Work experience after Graduation in an executive capacity.

Completing this programme has a profound impact on the career of working professionals resulting in a changed outlook towards a wide range of areas. It also positively influences self perception and strengthens the executives’ confidence to take on new roles and objectives for their future career. Personal and professional growth is bound to happen as a consequence of the development of leadership and key decision making skills in this programme.

MPE is chosen by executives and managers for various reasons. Some of the executives wish to develop their skill sets and enhance their career within the scope of their current organization. Some wish to change industry & function and others wish to start up their own venture.

As the executives move through the program, they gain sophisticated knowledge & skills on diverse aspects of management, including strategic thinking & planning in a competitive environment. Executives are able to take class concepts & immediately apply these on the job.

PROGRAMME DESIGN

The Programme covers 24 courses and various Workshops spread over 4 Trimesters. Its time frame is 22 months. The lectures are conducted as per the schedule mentioned below;

4:00 pm to 6:00 pm  9:00 am to 11:00 am
6:15 pm to 8:15 pm 11:15 am to 1:15 pm
  2:00 pm to 4:00 pm
  4.15.pm to 6.15 pm

During the programme the participants are required to complete a year long application – based industry project based on learning in the classroom under the guidance of an experienced faculty guide.

There is a lot of rich interaction and bonding amongst the participants of this programme which serves as a useful learning platform. Executives and managers from various industries come together to offer their perspectives on issues they are facing, thus making this entire programme more meaningful.

PEDAGOGY:

The pedagogy is interactive and largely based on case studies, supplemented by lectures, workshops and sessions with Industry Experts, presentations and Business Simulation Games. Classroom participation will be encouraged at very juncture.
In every trimester essential and non-evaluative Workshops on areas of current interest would be conducted for enhanced value-addition.
     
ACADEMIC ENABLERS:

We have experienced Full-time as well as Visiting faculty as also Guest speakers for delivery of lectures & conducting sessions.

Through very different teaching methods that integrate traditional classroom teaching with case discussion, group work, simulations, presentations and guest speakers, we aim to give all our participants a very unique learning experience.

For each subject our Faculty prepare specialized reading material (available in soft copy) and handouts for our participants providing proper guidance for preparation for exams.

GENERAL ENABLERS:

Classrooms are well-maintained with good infrastructure. Participants can also avail the facilities of the Library, Reading room and the Computer Centre. The Library has a comprehensive range of reference books. It is operational from 8.00 a.m. to 9.50 p.m. from Monday to Saturday and 10.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. on Sunday. Users can access more than 5000 full text journals covering titles published by Elsevier (Science Direct), Springer, John Wiley, etc. and from the aggregators like Ebsco and Proquest. Links to various corporate databases like CMIE, Capital Markets, ISI emerging Markets is also made available through OPAC

The Reading Room is open for 24 hours for all seven days of the week.

SPECIALIZATION:

Specialization in selected areas based on participant strength and the Institute’s discretion will be offered as an additional module after the programme completes.

ELIGIBILITY

 A graduate with 50% in any discipline from a recognized university or equivalent recognized by Association of Indian Universities, with minimum three years of work experience after graduation in an Executive capacity may only apply.

Selection process is through Group discussion / Case Analysis and Personal Interview.
