Student FAQ

Dear student,

Congratulations on your selection in SVKM’s NMIMS. Here are some FAQ’s regarding hostel/residential facility provided by NMIMS for your convenience. Hostel Form is required to be downloaded from www.nmims.edu. Filled in form should be deposited to Administration Dept. (Hostel) –at NMIMS (8th Floor –UPG Building). It is suggested to confirm the hostel availability from 'Hostel’ department of NMIMS in advance..

Q.1   Does NMIMS have hostel facility?
Ans. 

We have 3 kinds of  limited hostel/residential facility for our students i.e.
a) MKM Sanghvi Girls hostel,
b) G R Jani boys hostel and
c) Residential Flats converted into the hostel.

 
Q.2  

What is the fee structure for new students (for entire academic year – July to April)?

Ans.

MKM Sanghvi Girls Hostel (3 km) – 1,15,000/- (only for MBA students) , 
G R Jani Boys Hostel ( 1km) – 1,00,000/- (only for MBA students),
Girls Residential flats in the vicinity (Bansi Villa, Hemu Villa, Sai Suraj) - 1, 00,000/-, 
Boys Residential flats- 4 Bunglows, Andheri-West – 1, 20,000/-

Refundable security deposit for Hostels/Res.Flats(converted in to hostel) – Rs.10000/-
 
Q.3  Who are eligible for the hostel facility?
Ans.

Outstation students are eligible for hostel facility.

 
Q.4 What is the general procedure for hostel admission?
Ans. 

Students should download Hostel admission form (Free of Cost) from www.nmims.edu. Full Payment is required to be paid for admission. Admission is granted on ‘first come first serve’ basis only. No seat could be blocked against part payment.

 
Q.5  What about the Mess facility?
Ans. 

MKM Sanghvi & G R Jani hostel are having mess facility (on payment), whereas occupants of Residential Flats can tie up individually with food contractors. They may serve packed lunch/dinner in flats.         

 
Q.6 What other facilities are provided by NMIMS in Flats?
Ans.

Students are provided with some add on facilities (tentative) like TV in mess/Fridge/Washing Machine/Internet Connection/Hot Plate/Single Bed/ bed sheet /bedcover/ Pillow/ Almirah/ Chair etc.Cleaning Staff/Security services are provided at every location. Students should bear with ‘downtime’ of Internet operation at times.

 
Q.7 How many beds are there in a room?
Ans.

There are 2 single beds in every room of flats & 3/5 in the drawing room. In Girls Hostel there are 2/3 sharing rooms and in Boys Hostel 4 students in a room. No relative/friends are allowed to visit/stay in room

 
Q.8   How the hostel fee should be paid ?
Ans.

Hostel fee can be paid only through Demand Draft drawn in favor of ‘SVKM’s NMIMS’ payable at Mumbai.

 
Q.9 What is the policy for ‘Hostel fee refund’ ?
Ans.

Refund of   Hostel fee  is  allowed  only in  the case of cancellation of registration from NMIMS University as under:

         
  Deduction
Before start of classes : Rs. 3,000/- as processing charges.
After start of classes : No Refund
In any case late fee amount submitted by the student will not be refunded.
 
Q.10 How would I know about my exact accommodation in Flats ?
Ans. Hostel accommodation list with address will be placed on our website (www.nmims.edu) 4 days before start of your classes.
 

Documents mentioned in the Hostel form are mandatory to enclose with Hostel Form i.e.

  1. Proof of Residence (Parent and Local Guardian if any,
  2. Medical Insurance up to 1 lakh for a year
  3. Medical Fitness Certificate from Registered Medical Doctor,
  4. 1 + 3 Photo with self name
