With a humble beginning in 1981 with just 40 students, NMIMS has grown to an intake of over 2000 students annually for its wide bouquet of courses. As we celebrate our Silver Jubilee we realize that in a span of twenty-five years NMIMS is now focusing on transformation from an Institute of a single Management Faculty to a University with many Faculty areas. The University is also transforming itself from a teaching Institute to Research, Consultancy, Training & Teaching Institute.  NMIMS had planned many new academic initiatives for the year 2006-07 under various Schools like School of Business Management, Mukesh Patel School of Technology Management & Engineering, School of Pharmacy & Technology Management and School of Distance Learning and has introduced Balwant Sheth School of Architecture , School of Commerce and School of Science from 2007-08.

At SVKM's NMIMS University we transcend horizons! Going beyond the average, putting in that extra mile, extending ourselves to excel and win on all accounts. Going by the past track record, in the 25th year of our existence, we have witnessed a quantum jump in the success stories we have achieved and the milestones we have crossed. Winning the BMA Best Management Institute of the Year Award 2006-07, BMA Best Teacher of Management of the Year Award 2005-06, NMIMS has also been rated as one of the top ten B-Schools in the country in the Business Today - Nielsen Best B-schools Survey 2007 and in the Outlook-C fore Best B-schools Survey 2007 . The National Assessment and Accreditation Council [NAAC] has awarded our University an ‘A’ grade with a score between 85-90%. NMIMS University is the Winner of the 'Golden Peacock Innovation Award-2007' . With a wide array of programmes and a large faculty roster, NMIMS has now set its sights on being among the Top 10 University in the Asia-Pacific region. 

NMIMS University has a team of over 150 full time faculty members, rich in academic and industry experience. The faculty members have a number of publications to their credit and are also involved in Research & Consultancy activities, which is needed to keep them abreast of the ever changing and evolving corporate world.

A very important parameter of success for any University is its ability to offer corporate interface for its students, which enhances their practical knowledge to face the corporate world. NMIMS has built strong partnerships with the corporate world, providing training for staff, collaborating on research & development programmes, consultancy assignments and corporate projects. The Industry Institute Partnership Cell (IIPC) of NMIMS strives to build up industry sponsored collaborative postgraduate programmes, conducts workshops, seminars, and guest lectures for students to expose them to the realms of the corporate environment.

Students are the voice and bedrock of the University. Their contribution to various student activities has been remarkable and noteworthy. The focus at NMIMS is in the development of a ‘complete student’ by providing a learning environment that is not only intellectually stimulating, but also socially responsible. Corporate Social Responsibility is a part of every course at NMIMS.

NMIMS has come a long way since its inception in 1981, passed many a milestones and earned several accolades creating an image of excellence in the corporate as well as education sphere. I would like to thank our parent body, Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal, the Board of Management, the recruiters and various stakeholders for their support. The world is changing rapidly and with the talent, the resources and the capability available at NMIMS, we are confident of being able to meet the challenges of the changing environment. I am sure NMIMS University will scale greater heights of success and prosperity in the years to come as we transcend new horizons each year.
